The Platform’s initiatives demonstrate how the exchange of experiences, cooperation, and innovation can become powerful tools for strengthening territories. Each project brings together lessons learned, methodologies, and good practices that inspire new ways of promoting development through biocultural diversity.

Juntanza

JUNTANZA invites us to embark together on an imaginary sailing journey, guided by the compass rose. Along the four cardinal points we encounter different routes, horizons, experiences, and people. Free from borders, we are guided only by our hearts and minds, united by the desire to help break down unnecessary barriers. The common thread is the diversity that connects us, enabling us to work together to care for the planet, its many forms of life, its people, and ourselves.

Created by the Biocultural Diversity and Territories Platform and Diversidad & Desarrollo, JUNTANZA is a space for sharing reflections, dialogue, and collective initiatives. It brings together networks, territories, younger and older generations, projects of different scales and perspectives, as well as both successes and failures. Above all, it embraces a language that encourages conversation, listening, and mutual learning.

Brazil–Italy Synergy

Brazil–Italy Synergy: Connecting, Discovering, Identity was created to build a bridge between two countries that, although separated by an ocean, share common values, challenges, and a deep connection to their territories. The initiative promotes mutual learning, cooperation, and the exchange of experiences to strengthen biodiversity, preserve local cultures, and reinforce the identity of communities.

Through an ecosystem-based and sustainable approach, it connects people, knowledge, and best practices to foster responsible tourism that values biocultural heritage and creates development opportunities without compromising the identity or ecological balance of territories.

Between Two Waters: Peer Learning between Peru and Italy

Between Two Waters fosters a peer-learning process between Peru and Italy, strengthening the historical, cultural, and productive ties between the two territories. Through exchanges involving artisanal fishers, bakers, organizations, and institutions, the initiative highlights traditional knowledge, food heritage, and local identity as key drivers of territorial development.

Beyond international exchange, the project promotes new partnerships, strengthens local capacities, and supports concrete actions to improve governance, revitalize ancestral trades, and build cooperation networks that contribute to the sustainable development of coastal communities.

Meeting Mexico–Italy

Meeting Mexico–Italy creates a space for dialogue and collaboration among people, communities, and institutions committed to promoting the value of biocultural diversity and territorial development. The initiative encourages the exchange of experiences and knowledge to strengthen the relationship between the two countries through international cooperation.

By bringing together territorial stakeholders, it creates new opportunities for learning, strategic partnerships, and collaborative projects that help preserve natural and cultural heritage while promoting shared solutions to the challenges faced by local territories.

Tourism with a T for Territory

Tourism with a T for Territory is an international initiative that promotes a model of tourism built on identity, participation, and a deep understanding of territories. It brings together communities, producers, artisanal fishers, chefs, artisans, cultural managers, researchers, and organizations from Latin America and Europe to exchange experiences and strengthen territorial development processes.

Through events, publications, and knowledge-sharing spaces, the initiative promotes a form of tourism that protects biocultural heritage, strengthens local economies, and encourages the transmission of knowledge across generations, demonstrating that another way of doing tourism is not only possible, but essential.
